Mantis Claw Chilli Salt - 100g
Heat: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Chilli salt has to be one of my favourite ways to take food from bland to bang. A pinch as a finishing salt, a sprinkle over chips or a serious kick added to your cooking. Simple idea. Dangerous potential.
This experimental batch is made using Mantis Claw chillies, a seriously gnarly super-hot variety created by chilli grower Kevin Bane from a mutation of the Bhut Jolokia (Ghost Pepper).
With its twisted, knobbly appearance, Mantis Claw looks every bit as vicious as it sounds. Its exact Scoville rating hasn't been established, but it's estimated to exceed 700,000 SHU. That's a whole lot of attitude packed into a tiny chilli.
Combined with coarse Pink Himalayan Salt, this is a seriously punchy finishing salt for anyone who likes their food with a proper kick.
Try it on: Chips, eggs, roasted vegetables, grilled meats, avocado, pizza or pretty much anything that needs waking up.
Big heat. Simple ingredients. No messing about.
